Week Game 1 Mac OS

Posted on  by

For others, there's SheepShaver, a PowerPC emulator capable of running Mac OS 9.0.4 down to Mac OS 7.5.2 and there's Basilisk II, a 68k emulator, capable of running Mac OS (8.1 to 7.0). For everything older than System 7, you will need a Mac Plus emulator like Mini vMac NEW! A few of these go back to the week before, too, since we were without a Week In Games review last week. Blizzard released Mac OS X-native versions of StarCraft and Brood War; MacSoft announced. Mac OS X Microsoft Windows Cities: Skylines is a strategic and economic game produced by the Colossal Order team that previously created two games – Cities in Motion: Simulator of Urban Transport (Cities in Motion) and Simulator of the Modern Metropolis: Transport and Public Transport (Cities in Motion 2: The Modern Days ). The new version, 1.3, fixes a few bugs, and also works with Mac OS X. The game takes advantage of changes in 10.0.2, by the way, so make sure you're using the latest Mac OS X version if you plan. Apr 21, 2021 The following versions: 1.2 and 1.0 are the most frequently downloaded ones by the program users. This program's bundle is identified as com.Mojang Specifications.Minecraft.Minecraft. You can launch Minecraft on Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

Elsewhere on the Web

Madcap and irreverent Mac game site Utterer.com has undergone a major face-lift this past week, so make sure to drop by. Two new Mac game sites have opened this week. One is called FragMac, and it features some great enthusiasm and a solid effort to date. Another site is a bit more special interest, and definitely answers a need — it’s called MacGameGirls. The site aims to present “a different take on the female gaming experience,” so check it out! MacGamer has posted an interview with MacPlay president Diane Zammit, who discusses her company’s recent efforts. Inside Mac Games has compared the Radeon and GeForce2 MX graphics cards. Apple’s Brad Cook takes a look at remakes of classic arcade games on the Mac, partly thanks to the efforts of MacSoft to reach “casual” gamers on the platform.

Closer to home

There’s been plenty of games content on MacCentral as well. Tales of the Sword Coast supports GameRanger, the online multiplayer service for Mac; David Read has done an in-depth analysis of what Mac OS X means for games; a PC Gamer columnist says there should be more Mac games because Mac gamers stink; Ubi Soft says that Myst III: Exile has sold more than 75,000 copies in its first two weeks of distribution; MacCentral has posted an in-depth look at Truform, the new 3D modeling technology from ATI; Aspyr Media says Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 is now shipping for Mac OS; there’s a new Toy Story 2 kids’ game in distribution, and much more — check out the archives of MacCentral for even more details of game news that’s posted since the beginning of the week.

And, as always, we encourage you to e-mail us if you have ideas for ways we can improve our games coverage, or if you have games news you’d like us to mention.

Installing_Mac_OS_9.pdf

Uploaded currently on this page are 4 retail reference CD images of Mac OS 9. Retail reference installers were non-hardware specific and were designed to install a full copy of the Mac OS on a bare hard drive in a machine that supported that version. The actual CDs were whites with a big orange 9 in the middle.

  • 1st DL: Mac OS 9.0 Install CD - See also Mac OS 9.0.x for more disc images
  • 2nd DL: Mac OS 9.0.4 Install CD - See also Mac OS 9.0.x for more disc images
  • 3rd DL: Mac OS 9.1 Install CD - See also Mac OS 9.1 + extras for more disc images
  • 4th DL: Mac OS 9.2.1 Install CD
  • 5th DL: Mac OS 9.2 Install CD for Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver)
  • 6th DL: Mac OS 9.2.2 Restore CD for Macintosh Server G4 (QuickSilver 2002 EDU) with AppleShare 6.3.3 v1.3 - The AppleShare IP 6.3.3 v1.3 installer can be found here
  • 7th DL: Mac OS 9.1 Install CD for iMac (Early 2001) - See also Mac OS 9.1 + extras for more disc images

After getting these uploads up, my next plan is to add 9.0.4 updates, 9.1 updates, 9.2.1 updates and 9.2.2 updates as well as other updaters for OS 9. Finally, I want to strive to get as many model specific builds uploaded as possible. On top of that a strength of the old page was the heavy information offered. Perhaps this page can offer that too over time.

Sheepmyshaver123 uploaded the special version of AppleShare IP 6.3.3 v1.3 when I gave it to him previously through his personal archive. I added the restoration disc here which will restore both the OS and AppleShare IP 6.3.3v1.3 to a bare hard drive in a Quicksilver 2002 model.

Seventh download is the model specific build for an iMac (Early 2001). This will install the build of Mac OS 9.1 that shipped on a Flower Power/Blue Dalmatian era iMac as requested. Again, more to come...it's easier to take requests.
